TiVi Topics: Organizing and Curating Content

Topics are the fundamental building blocks of FamTiVi. Rather than letting an algorithm decide which video plays next, a Topic groups curated YouTube playlists around a specific theme, subject, or learning goal.

Whether your household is interested in astronomy, watercolor painting, robotics, or youth soccer drills, Topics allow you to assemble high-quality playlists and broadcast them on a predictable schedule.

1. What is a TiVi Topic?

A Topic is a container that holds one or more video playlists.

  • Custom Scope: You can create broad topics (such as “Science & Nature”) or highly focused topics (such as “Beginner Origami” or “Ancient Egyptian History”).
  • Curated Playlists: Add existing public YouTube playlists or playlists you have organized yourself. By adding or removing playlists from a Topic, you can expand or refine its content over time.
  • Shared Across Teams: A single Topic can be shared with different Teams , making it easy to share recommendations with relatives, homeschool groups, or friends.

2. Creating Your First Topic

To create a new Topic on the FamTiVi web platform:

  1. Log in to your account at famtivi.com .
  2. From the navigation, click on Topics.
  3. Click Add Topic to open the creation dialog.
  4. Enter a Title (required) for your Topic (e.g., “Wildlife & Conservation”).
  5. Add an optional Description, descriptive Tags, and upload an Image.
  6. Under Assign to Teams, check which teams should have access to this Topic.
  7. Click Add to save the Topic.

3. Adding Playlists to a Topic

Once your Topic is created, attach one or more playlists:

  1. Open your Topic details from the Topics tab.
  2. Click Create Playlist.
  3. In the constructor dialog, select the URL tab and paste a public YouTube channel or playlist URL.
  4. Click Validate and Search. FamTiVi will fetch and display the video titles.
  5. Click Save Playlist to attach the playlist to your Topic.
  6. To remove unwanted videos, toggle video selection checkboxes on the attached playlist card, check the unwanted videos, and click Delete.

4. Scheduling Topics on the Channel Calendar

After organizing your Topic, add it to your broadcast schedule:

  1. Navigate to the Schedule / Channel Calendar on the web dashboard.
  2. Click Schedule Showtime.
  3. In the Create a Show modal, select the Channel and Topic, then click Next to configure the time slot and recurrence.
  4. Click Save Event to confirm the schedule.
  5. For recurring schedule blocks, FamTiVi automatically resumes playback where the playlist left off in the previous session, ensuring continuous, linear progression through educational series.
